The quest for Coloured Boulles

Several our PK 1294 teams attended favourite tournament in Jaromeřice nad Rokytnou

When we discussed, during our annual meeting, the possibility of some group trip to a petanque event, in which more than one or two teams would participate, the tournament Coloured Boulles in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou was a clear choice: the beautiful venue (a nice manor park), superior and not too difficult surface and, last but not least, friendly and attentive organizers. Several of us went there already last year and we had a great time.

This year, our club PK 1293 was represented by four teams: Radek Turinský and Martin Hošák, Oldřich Brož (sen.) and Vít Malivánek, Zdeněk Konopásek and Karel Malivánek (two years ago they scored well in this tournament, 5th place) and Jakub Konopásek playing with Michal Preuss from the POP club in Prague (a mixed doublet). Horrifying weather forecasts prevented more teams from Mestec to come. The risk of very cold and rainy weather was worth to take, however: not a rain drop during the entire day and relatively reasonable temperatures made the tournament a pleasant event.

Fifty doublets participated in the tournament. Unfortunately, no our team managed to pass through the five rounds of the Swiss system to the best eight play-off. So we all ended in the accompanying B tournament. The best score during the three rounds of the Swiss system and the first place in the B tournament was achieved by Pavel Hejl (jr.) and Tomáš Stoklásek; nonetheless, Karel Malivánek with Zdeněk Konopásek from PK 1293, ended up on the second place while Vít Malivánek and Oldřich Brož occupied the forth place.
